ABOUT THE LIBRARY
Central Library of Bankura University was established in the year 2016. It is located in a multi-storied building and is a very well stocked library with the state-of-the-art amenities.
The books are all barcoded and
classified according to Dewey decimal classification. The stack areas are well organized and quite spacious. Presently, the library follows closed access system.
The Library is Automated using the most popular open source ILMS KOHA. It helps the library staff to run the Library in a better and organized manner.
The Central Library holds an important position in the research and academic activities of the University. It acts as an information centre, both in print and electronic format using the technology and resources available.
LIBRARY RULES
Rules for issue-return process are as follows:
a) Duration of issuing books : 14 days for students, 30 days for research scholers, 70 days for Professors, 30 days for non-teaching staffs
b) Late Fine after 14 days at a price of Rs. 2 per day for each holding.
N.B. : Fine to be calculated excluding Holiday.
d) In case of loss of Book : Book replacement + Late Fine from the date of issue of books.
e) Library facility to be given to all enrolled students on campus.
CD-DVD
Many books in our collection are accompanied by learning materials in CD/DVD format. Those accompanying materials are kept separately.
SERVICE / FACILITIES
OPAC : Through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) the users can search the collection of books by title, author, publisher, subject, keywords etc.
WI-FI : THE Library is Wi-fi enabled with high speed internet connections which allow the users to access the internet facility. The OPAC enabled Computers have access to search the Library resources.
Reading Room : The reading room is well furnished to accommodate students at a time and provides favorable environment for study. Faculty and Students' attendance register is maintained to count daily footfall in the library.
Circulation : Issue, return and renewal are done manually and ready to be done through KOHA ILMS
TIMING AND ACCESS
Monday to Friday: 10.30 A.M. to 8.00 P.M. (except holidays).
OUR COLLECTIONS
Print resources : Books, Journals, Newspapers, Magazines, Reference books, Theses, etc.
E-Resources : e-Books, e-Journals, Databases, e-Magazines, e-Newspapers, e-Reference books. Books : Our Library has more than 30000 print books. The collection of books include documents covering a wide range of subjects from English literature, Bengali literature, pure sciences, arts, history and social sciences, languages etc. Apart from the printed books the library is has access to Delnet, South Asian Archive etc.
Journals : The Library has subscription to some print journals and has access to several hundred e-journals including University’s own subscription as well as open sources of renowned publishers such as Sage etc. The library subscribes to a large number of magazines and newspapers. The newspapers and magazines are displayed in the ground floor.
